Key menswear pieces for summer
The Spring/Summer 2016 runways gave us a kaleidoscope of different trends and styles however we at Style Doctors understand that it can sometimes be difficult to filter these overly styled looks into wearable everyday outfits. Fear not, as I’m here to help you translate trends into everyday outfits and discuss the key menswear pieces for summer 2016.
A touch of the Orient
The oriental pattern was seen by designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and Louis Vuitton sending this trend to my number one for Summer 2016. As you may or may not know, the high street often follows the catwalks and brands like ASOS and Topman have been influenced by this oriental pattern.
Style tip: A bomber jacket is the best and obvious choice for this trend and these are in abundance this season. Choose a neutral, versatile colour that will work with the rest of your wardrobe (such as the blue in my style selection below). If you’d like a stand-out piece look for an embroidered jacket in a bolder colour and team this up with your favourite jeans or pair of chinos.
Are white chinos making a comeback? Yes! White chinos are no longer just for summer holidays and can be worn at both formal and casual occasions, it’s all about the styling!
Style Tip: Pair a simple pair of chinos with a bold jacket. This is a great trans-seasonal look and is both timeless and ageless.
Recently seen on catwalks and celebrities alike, distressed jeans are going to be everywhere this season. Depending on your style personality, you can go Kanye-esque and go to town with the level of distress or you can go for more subtle details.
Style Tip: Distressed jeans are perfect for all year round (not just Summer) either teamed-up with a smarter blazer for more formal occasions or worn with a casual tee for a dressed-down look.
