Perfectly Fitting Clothes

As the UK’s premier styling company we work closely alongside alteration companies across the UK to ensure that our clients wardrobes fit them perfectly. We wanted to share with you some insider knowledge about perfectly fitting clothes and have asked our friends at London Fitting Rooms to share their expert tips with us.

Fit or colour? Where do you stand on this?

Fit only since our aim is to make you feel amazing wearing any colour! When you can forget about what you are wearing, you can really enjoy your outfit. You can feel great and concentrate on the day/evening. This is the sign that you have achieved the perfect fit.

We sometimes advise on colour and designs during private appointments or even in stores when clients hesitate and ask for our opinion. Being around the most stylish women in London helps us to develop a sharp eye for details and looks.

Do you think everything can be tailored to work for someone?

Technically everything is possible. Our expert fitters and tailors always try to find solutions to meet our client’s needs.

We can downsize garments and also make them much bigger. We can add modesty panels and any type of sleeve. We source the most accurate fabrics in our studio or even use our wide selection of hem cut-offs. Bearing in mind that our job is to advise whether it’s really worth it. How much does the client really like this garment? If they are not sure of the pattern or colour, we will advise them against putting in all that work.

What’s the most common item of clothing you tailor/fit?

The red carpet fully beaded gown. This type of design and fabric require expertise. We are also helping a lot of brides and grooms, so wedding dresses and tuxedos.

What’s been the most exciting item you’ve worked on?

Difficult to pick one as so many but the Balenciaga catwalk piece was especially stunning! The dress was embroidered with unusual hand tied laces. We made the model-size corset slightly bigger to fit our client nicely.

It is also very exciting to work with celebrity’s outfits and seeing the results on the red carpet. It is a challenging process, often accomplished in a couple of hours. When that outfit is on the best dressed people list, however, you know that we have all done a good job: the designer, the stylist and the tailoring team.

Tell us about the importance of having clothes that fit you perfectly.

It is important to have fitted garments that flatter your figure and accentuate the best parts of your body. We know a lot of tricks to enhance your silhouette and make you feel even more beautiful and confident, just like a gentleman will always look more elegant when his suit has been cut and tailored to perfection.

    Hi There

I am getting married in June and interested in a simple dress from Ghost. However I was thinking I might look better with a short sleeve and wondered if you would be able to do that? Or indeed if you think that’s worth doing?

    Let me know your thoughts

    Kind regards

    Jill

Hi Jill. First of all congratulations! A Ghost dress sounds wonderful. How about adding a cape or stole rather than adding a sleeve as it may prove difficult to match perfectly with the shape of the shoulder.
