The Cape – Outfit Inspiration
Every season there is one item that is called the ‘must have’ garment for that time and this season it’s the turn of the cape. We have decided to bring you a classic way of wearing a cape in our outfit inspiration.
Celebrities and fashionistas have been wearing their capes already and we’ve seen one in every colour on and off the catwalks. Some trends come and go and lots of our clients ask us if it’s even worth investing in something like a cape as it may not be around next season which begs the question ‘to buy or not to buy’.
Capes come in every colour, print and almost every fabric imaginable however we suggest keeping it as classic and simple as possible if you want to remain timeless. If you want something that lasts one season and is a ‘fun’ addition to your wardrobe, look for a printed or brightly coloured cape. After a season not only you but everyone else will have had enough of seeing you in it!
Black, navy, tan, camel are all good colours if you want to ensure maximum use out of your cape. If you’re looking for something as close as possible to a coat as possible a darker colour looks best as openings and details are less easy to see.
We’ve gone for a camel colour from Ted Baker as we think that this would be a classic wardrobe staple that could be worn both formally and casually. Our tip is to wear lightweight layers underneath to avoid adding bulk. For this look we’ve teamed this up with a classic Breton top which would add some interest to the arms.
We decided to make this look more Autumnal by swapping the white jeans for the grey jeans plus the faded jeans give the look an added edge. Keep the bottom half of the body as slim and sleek as possible to avoid looking bulky. You could also swap the nude heel for a pair of tan ankle boots. As the outfit is quite simple, we’ve added a bright gold watch and ring to add a luxe touch to the outfit. Finish off with a classic satchel and voila, you’re ready for the Autumn.
