Closet Clean Out
If you are stuck in a fashion rut, maybe it is time to go through the clothes you have and closet clean out what you no longer wear. It doesn’t have to be spring to do some your cleaning out! Keep reading for some tips for when to hang on to an item when to get rid of it.
Divide and conquer – if you try to attack without a plan, it will get overwhelming. When you divide your clothes into sections you will be more likely to stick with it because it will be a more manageable process. When you pick your section, start with three piles.
The first pile is what you know you want to keep. This is the easy part – the clothes that you wear the most. When you put this section back in your closet or drawers, be sure to give them a once over
The second that you know you don’t want any more. This is the part of the process where you find clothes that you don’t even know why you bought them in the first place. I know that I have a bad habit of hanging on to clothes that I don’t want instead of returning them; semi-frequent cleaning of my closet has helped me to break that habit!
The third pile is for clothes that you aren’t quite sure what to do with. With your undecided pile be sure you try on all of the items. If you are still stuck, hang onto the items and re-evaluate in a week or two. Try to spread the process out over a few days, especially if you have a lot of clothes to work through in the first place.
Now it’s time to maintain. Since you have a clear idea of what you do have after going through everything, it will be easier when you go shopping to avoid the mistakes that you made with the clothes you just got rid of.
