Dapper menswear on a budget
Looking good on a budget is possible! The wide range of shops both online and in store have made it that much easier for anyone shopping within a limit. As stylists we are trained to shop for any budget and always put a big emphasis on styling rather than the cost of an outfit. We believe that anyone can and deserves to look their best, whatever their resources but how do you create dapper menswear on a budget?
Prioritising what to invest in is not only a smart way of shopping but also allows you to save money. Try purchasing keys pieces that can be combined with different outfits. For example, a good quality blazer could be worn to work, on a date or even an evening out with friends. Match this blazer with a different coloured t-shirt for each occasion (3 pack from H&M) and you’ll have yourself 3 looks in one.
One of the quickest and easiest ways to get clothing less than full price is to subscribe to email lists. Emails notify you when sales are on, promotional online offers and when items are back in stock. Not only will this allow you to shop the latest trends for half the price but you’ll also be able to enjoy this experience in the comfort of your own home. This is useful if you’re confident with your shape and style or after a personal shopping trip with one of our stylists.
Most people turn their noses at the idea of charity shopping and believe it’s ludicrous to invest their money into something that has already been worn. But surprisingly charity shopping is actually one of my favourite ways to shop. It allows you to be creative, invest in designer wear (for a more reasonable price) and purchase one off vintage pieces that have been discontinued.
Outlet stores can sometimes be an overwhelming experience, but if you have the mentality to courageously take on the challenge then by all means do so because they’re a fantastic place to find affordable accessories like; socks, belts, ties, underwear and cuff links.
Before making that all important shopping trip, have an idea of what it is you’re shopping for. Inspiration from magazines and online blogs will help you put outfits together. Be sure to shop your own wardrobe by checking through what you own and eliminate the garments you never wear. Create a specific list of what’s missing and pieces you need to add to your collection in order to produce the perfect dapper outfit. Having specifics written down will help you stay within your budget. If you’d like to ensure you make the most of your money, book a session with one of our stylists.
