Finding a Wedding Guest Outfit for Summer Venues

Weddings are an exciting highlight of anyone’s summer. Celebrating love among your friends and family is a great occasion to splurge on the perfect outfit. Dressing your best according to the venue can make all the difference when looking back at photos of the big day. Your wedding guest outfit can help tie together the aesthetic of the wedding, whether the wedded couple realize or not. Here are some tips for dressing to the most popular wedding venues. Need more help? A styling session with one of our stylists will get you in the right outfit for the special night.

Black Tie Weddings

If it wasn’t clear already, it’s time time to break out your best dress. Upscale calls for the best of the best – which is the perfect opportunity to elevate your confidence and feel your absolute best. The couple picked an upscale venue such as a hotel or ballroom so the food, decor and the overall theme will be on the fancier side. No matter what the season, try to go for dresses in classic colors and silhouettes. Black, ruby, blue, emerald, and fuschia are all great options for this summer wedding. Long gowns are great for evening events, while short cocktail attire works very well for a daytime soiree. As for shoes, don’t be afraid to go all out. Whether you’re a classic black patent leather heel girl, or prefer something more outstanding, just make sure it’s as classic and elegant as your dress. Pair the full look with a smoky eye or a bold lip color for nighttime and don’t forget to accessorize with romantic jewelry!

Tropical Weddings

Tropical destinations are fabulous getaways from the struggle of daily life. But maybe you have no idea where to start with your wedding guest outfit. For beach weddings, going more casual is okay. Think “dressed up casual” in terms of fabrics and silhouettes – linen, chiffon, and light cotton are all great options for this special event. Skirts or palazzo style pants are comfortable, sandy-friendly options that you can wear with your favorite sandals. You’ll definitely want to wear something that moves and breathes easy. Maybe you’ll be on grass or possibly indoors, but investing in a pair of beautiful, comfortable sandals is a must. A stylist tip for making this extraordinary: Accessorize with tropical-inspired accessories that are all over runways and in stores this season!

Outdoor Weddings

From parks to country clubs and everything in between – outdoor weddings leave guests many options for attire! Unless specified on the invitation, it will still be a very dressy occasion, so avoid casual dresses and skirts. Any color is fine to wear as long as it makes you feel comfortable and confident (and it’s not white!) Make sure if the reception is on the grass, you opt for wedges or flats for comfort. Find the perfect middle ground between casual dresses and evening gowns for this one. Shift dresses and fit-and-flare shapes are perfect for this kind of occasion. And if there’s a chance for rain or humidity, try and go for an up-do hairstyle to avoid the hassle of constant readjustments. Just know, everyone will likely come dressed very differently to this wedding. And that’s okay!
