How To Style Midi Length

Midi length is one of those styles that many of us admire but are never quite sure how to pull off. Style Doctors is here to help take the fear out of styling the midi-length by showing you how to style your midi length hems with ease. Our stylists have put together three separate midi-length looks to suit different style personalities.

Large Floral Print Midi Dress

Here, our stylists chose a loose fitting shirt dress in a maxi floral print and accentuated it with the waist belt.

“Wearing the belt high on the waist helps elongate the body”

Large floral prints can be easily matched with any other prints, and you can even pair it with animal print espadrilles or bright patterned summer sandals.

Style Tip: Larger prints suit all shapes and sizes. This large floral print is a winner for both petite and taller women. Sticking to a printed dress with two or three colours will also keep the look timeless.

We styled this with a simple black basket bag for an easy summer style that requires minimum styling.

The Finishing Touches

Slip Midi Skirt

The slip midi skirt is one of the hottest midi-length trends at the moment. We picked a skirt with lightweight fabric for the summer. Details such as ties or a slit are a fun way to add flair to an otherwise simple silhouette. Here we paired a bright floral patterned slip skirt with a simple ivory blouse to balance the look.

We recommend adding a little height when wearing a midi length. This can be a wedge, platform or even chunky trainers. This helps make you appear taller when wearing this longer length.

Casual Midi Length

A casual midi length dress is great for a relaxed daytime look featuring this fitted jersey dress. This dress might be simple but adding a bright coloured belt will certainly add interest to an otherwise plain look.

The Finishing Touches

Style Tip: Wearing a belt always helps accentuate the waist, but the key is choosing the right type of belt for your body shape. Slim and medium-sized belts are suitable for hourglass figures, pear shapes, and short-waisted women, while wider belts are perfect for apple and rectangle body shapes.

“Wearing a belt helps break-up the outfits but also elevates it”

A leather jacket in a bright pastel colour helps lighten-up the look and works as a contrast against the red belt. This look is paired with white crisp white trainers to dress down the look.
