Men’s Spring Trends And How To Wear Them
New seasons bring not only better weather, but also new trends and a chance to step out of your comfort zone. With spring finally here and summer just around the corner, we’ve broken down a few of the key trends for spring summer 2018 as seen on the catwalks and transformed them into wearable everyday looks.
The powder pink colour was seen all over runways during fashion weeks from Fendi to Valentino and it’s now hit the high street with a bang. Pastel pink is a great colour because it looks amazing on its own, or worn with other neutrals such as sand, beige, white and even mint green. There are so many ways to incorporate this colour into your look and whether you’re ready to embrace pink with open arms or you’re not quite sure, there is something for everyone.
Stylist Tip: If you’re new to pink, we suggest going for a shoe or an accessory as a first foray into the palette. If you love pink, it’s an easy colour to wear head-to-toe and don’t be afraid to mix different tones of this hue together.
All white from head to toe can look very chic and smart if worn correctly and equally quite bad if worn incorrectly. If you love the idea of this look, but want to ease your way into it, try opting for a denim jacket or light blue blazer to tone down an otherwise all white look. A pair of tan shoes are a must with an all white look – smart sandals for warm weather or loafers for an even smarter look are great choices to finish off a look like this.
Stylist Tip: When choosing anything white, it’s important to take the quality of the garments into consideration as white can often look inexpensive unless it’s in the right fabric and cut.
Summer Style For Men
Vertical stripes are another huge trend this season which is great news as they can look fantastic on most men (whatever your body shape). From Breton t shirts (that are very easy to wear) and full striped suits, there’s something for both the fashion forward and fashion cautious man this summer. A striped t shirt can look very stylish under a beige or soft pink suit.
Stylist tip: Choose a darker base colour in a stripe if your goal is to slim the body. Vertical stripes can make you look longer and leaner!
80’s and 90’s
From oversized suit jackets to frayed hems to light washed jeans, we’ve seen many 80’s trends walking down the runways. The key to making trends like these work is to mixing this trend with your existing wardrobe and to not overdo it. As for the 90’s, denim on denim, sweater vests, and cargo trousers were only a few of the popular trends making another appearance since their popularity in the 90’s. The idea with these trends are the same as the 80’s: think about tying them in to your current wardrobe.
Stylist tip: Don’t go overboard with these trends and try to invest in pieces you know you’ll still wear next season.
