Steal Deni’s Style – Outfit Inspiration
Our stylists all well versed in creating looks for our clients but how do they go about styling themselves? Following on from our feature on our CEO Elin’s personal style here, this time it’s Deni’s turn to discuss her outfit choices.
As a stylist I always encourage my clients to embrace more colours. However, nothing beats a good head-to-toe outfit every now and then.
All-black-outfits are great for a city glam look, but if not done in a right way it could be boring and even ageing.
How to make it work?
“With all-black-looks a minimum of three statement accessories is absolutely key. I opted for a simple pair of cowboy boots and a stud detailed bag in black palette– they add chic & effortless feel to my style. Quirky jewellery such as these chunky & fun earrings with gems adds a colour accent to the look. I would also carry a pair of statement frames in my bag.”
Think of contrasting fabrics such as leather & knit, satin & denim etc. Add texture with materials such as lace or printed satin. I would layer cropped leather jacket over my knit mini LBD to make the look more autumnal.
This is one of my most versatile looks! I would wear it during the day in between the office & meetings. In the evening I would swap the stud flats with stiletto heels and go out for a dinner with my friends.
“When I wear black I often do a red lipstick. Wearing red lips during the day adds a glam feeling to the look.”
Try to reuse one of your “occasion” black dresses and style it down with relaxed shoes. When you select a bag opt for design which relates to your proportions. Not everyone suits a maxi tote – especially petite ladies. A medium bag is great for a city style and makes you think of the very essentials you need for the day.
“If you don’t have a little black dress, choose a simple & minimal design. Opt for a well-structured & easy to maintain fabric which you can wear all year round.”
Smart shopping is key. I would get my basics from high street brands. This Zara dress is a great staple piece I’ve had for years. However, a good pair of designer frames are an investment for me. I opt for contemporary yet timeless styles from Tom Ford, Gucci or Miu Miu.
“I keep exploring new brands and only buy things which I truly love. Dressing head-to-toe in a single brand is never a good idea. Mix and match brands to make your look unique.”
I advise my clients; “If you are unsure about a fashion item, don’t buy it”. You’ve got to love every single fashion purchase you make. This keeps you excited about your personal style.
