Styling Hacks by Style Doctors
If you’re like many women, flipping through your wardrobe each day in search of a new pairing can feel like a chore. You may have a closet full of garments, but feel as if you have run out of ways to wear them. Style Doctors wants to help you realise your wardrobe’s full potential, and that’s why we’ve brought you three Styling Hacks by Style Doctors to refresh your wardrobe.
Wear It In a New Way
One of the best ways to give your wardrobe a makeover is to give your go-to pieces an unexpected update. Wear your favourite silk scarf as a head wrap or give a shift more shape by using a scarf as a belt. If you love your classic button-up but it’s lacking excitement, flip it around and wear it backwards with a few of the buttons undone. Don’t be afraid to do the same with a lightweight cardigan as well.
“A clsssic white or pale blue blouse is a wardrobe staple for every woman and there’s a style for everyone. There’s also a way to style if for everyone too. From worm open over a cami (great if you have a larger bust), tied at the waist (great if you have a fabulous midriff) and buttoned-up if you have an athletic shape. It’s all about the styling!” – Style Doctors stylist, Elin Mai.
Colour Yourself Stylish
Though an all black ensemble isn’t for everyone, don’t shy away from monochromatic looks. Trousers and a top of the same shade are figure-lengthening and chic. Choosing a dress and shoes in similar hues is just as stylish and quite easy, too!
“Whether it’s a dress in one colour or a jumpsuit, it’s a classic look that’s both easy to wear and ever-so-flattering. As the main item is usually quite simple, we recommend being experimental with accessories” – Style Doctors, Style Assistant, Jenny.
Play With Proportions
While it’s easy to throw on jeans and a top, adding visual interest to your ensemble is just as simple. Play with your proportions to create balance in your outfit by pairing a pair of tailored shorts with a longer hemmed jacket. Combine a floor-skimming duster with ankle grazing trousers to give yourself a lengthy look.
“The long-line waistcoat is the perfect staple for summer for all body-shapes. The long column like style helps elongate the silhouette making you appear longer and leaner. It’s also a great cover-up when a sleeved jacket is simply too warm.” – Style Doctors, Style Assistant, Summer.
