Tropical Holiday Wardrobe Tips

Just because spring break season has come to an end doesn’t mean that you missed your window to take a tropical holiday. Whether you’re a university student or a professional, you probably already have a vacation planned in the upcoming months. This is definitely the time to break out the best of your closet. Following these tropical holiday wardrobe tips is the first step to transition into a summer wardrobe, too.

That “One” Dress

Everyone has one (or two, or three) favorite dresses in their wardrobe that they wish they could wear every day. If you don’t have one, now is the perfect time to invest. For petite or rectangular body shapes, go for a slip dress. The lightweight silky material will feel great in the summer sun and won’t take up any space when packing. It’s also great for belting and layering! For hourglass, pear or triangle shapes, go for a jersey fit and flare. Whether you prefer wrap style to show off your waist or a bodycon midi to show off your curves, this dress will serve you for all sorts of occasions and can be easily styled for day or night. And you won’t have to worry about ironing out wrinkles!

Other Tropical Necessities

For tall frames, opt for breezy culottes paired with espadrilles for a true beach vibe. If you want to show off your shoulders, the cold-shoulder trend is perfect for you and your sun-kissed arms. If playful and youthful vibes are what you’re going for, a lightweight romper is perfect for women with shorter torsos. Wanting to protect your porcelain skin from dangerous sunrays? Try out a sexy floppy hat, or a straw fedora for the beach. And if you’re totally looking to stand out in the crowd, go totally backless! (But remember to wear your favorite brand of sticky petals or a backless bra.)

Accessories & Shoes

Accessories are so important to completing an outfit during any season. For vacation attire in particular, some essentials you need are sunglasses, jewelry and great carryall tote. Look for items that aren’t likely to get lost or broken in the bustle of packing, unpacking and traveling. And of course, finding accessories in your favorite colors that compliment your skin tone are a must! As for shoes, flat sandals, wedges or heels and a plain slip-on or trainer should be top priority to fit in your luggage. You’ll be ready for the dance floor, the beach and the city tour with these three types of shoes.

Holiday Wardrobe Tips – Packing

Now that you have an idea of what you’ll wear on your break, the hard part is packing it all to a reasonably sized suitcase. The best way to pack is by rolling up your clothes instead of traditional folding. Try to pack your most versatile pieces, which can be used for more than one outfit to save space. Packing outfits together is also a great way to save space, so you can plan your daily looks and avoid overpacking. Another great tip for packing is to avoid stiff and bulky fabrics. This should be easy since most summer outfits will consist of light fabrics anyway. With that being said, think about wrinkling. You may not have access to an iron and many summer fabrics (like linen and silk) are easily wrinkled. The best way to pack these items is flat in your suitcase. And finally, when packing accessories, always keep them in your carry on to prevent breakage.
