If you struggle to know what to wear or how to present yourself on dates, continue reading for our top tips and advice. First and foremost the most important advice I can give you is not to try too hard, just relax and go about getting ready just like you would if you were going out with your girlfriends.
Depending on the type of sate you are going on I would recommend different looks so here’s a quick run through!
You want to remain casual and show him that you can look just as good au naturel and don’t have to be all done up to look good. A pair of skinny jeans, graphic tee, leather jacket and a stylish flat shoe or boot is perfect. Finish your look off with a tote handbag and minimal jewellery. Keep you make-up minimal with a neutral lip and winged eye-liner. Have your hair loose and style it the way that suits you, straight, tousled or curly. Don’t forget that you’re sitting down for most of the date which means you need an outfit that you can comfortably sit in for at least two hours!
He’s invited you out for dinner; this calls for a smarter look. You want to look like you’ve made an effort but not so much so that you make him feel under-dressed. A black or neutral colour cigarette trouser, blouse and heel is a perfect balance, add an oversized clutch to carry all the essentials you’ll need (lipstick and phone). To accessorise a bracelet watch, simple diamond stud earrings, intricate necklace and a couple of your favourite rings will finish the look off nicely. Sleek your hair back in a low ponytail or a fish tale plait for a more casual take. You can be a bit more adventurous with your make-up this time and go for a smoky eye look or a bold lip, remember it’s either one of the other as you don’t want it to be too much! If you’re more of a dress person that’s also fine. Make sure the length of the dress is suitable when sitting down by the dinner table!
If you are off out for drinks and to a party, you’ll want to dress up. The classic LBD is your best friend at this point; both stylish and flattering. Opt for a stylish heel as your item of interest and an interesting bag. You can add a pop of colour or pattern to keep your look fun. A red lip and keep your hair how you like it. We recommend in a good blow-out before a cocktail date (it’ll make you feel that little bit more special).
