The Changing Face Of Retail – Topshop

Another sad day as Arcadia, which owns Topshop goes into administration. Once one of the most popular shops on the high street and a go-to for so many.

For me personally, it was the shop that developed my love for fashion and styling. For our clients, it was a go-to for so many staples and directional pieces all under one roof.

This year has seen many a household name crumble and 2021 will look like a very different landscape for retail.

For many, shopping is a hobby, a time to connect and catch up with friends. For us, the value of trying on clothes and touching fabrics is immeasurable.

I sincerely hope that we don’t all become beige carbon copies of each other in variations of lounge wear. As we interact less, socialise less, the creativity and expression that so many of us enjoy from clothes is being stripped away.

As the shops open tomorrow myself and our stylists will be out again supporting retailers because I strongly believe in shopping on the high street. Nothing beats shopping in person.

We now eat, work, exercise and socialise from home and have been told to ‘shop online’ for the majority of this year.

Whatever the season, Topshop had something to tick all of my (and our clients’) style requirements.

Shopping in person may not work for everyone at the moment (but Style Doctors can help with that). Find out more about how you can support the high street without leaving your own home here.

We will continue to support the high street however we can. If you can, I hope you can also support the retailers around you and all of their staff.
